About the Artist
I’m Agnes Xantippa Boman, a Swedish illustrator living in Glasgow. I have been freelancing full-time since graduating from Glasgow School of Art in 2022. I've worked on projects involving animation, public art, and editorial illustration. I am part of the design studio at SWG3 and have been interested in collaborating more with Yardworks for a while now, so this seems like a great opportunity! I have completed two murals so far, one for a real estate company called CBRE and one for the art shop Paint and Mortar.
‘I wish to create an eye-catching artpiece in a graphic style with a bold yet harmonious colour palette. The image is of a woman practising self-defence, but the pose is ambiguous enough that people will interpret it in different ways. I want the artwork to evoke a feeling of strength. The artwork is flexible to fit into different dimensions depending on the surface provided. If I were to paint on a utility box with two sides, I would create two similar but different artworks. Same characters and colour palette, but in a slightly different pose to create something like a 2-panel sequential comic.
