As part of our Yardworks GRID programme we are looking for local young people interested in learning more about street art to get involved in a full day of artist led workshops at SWG3. You don't need to have any experience and we provide all the materials, we just ask that you bring yourself and your passion! .
Purdon Street Mural Workshops with Molly Hankinson
As part of our consultation process for designing new artworks, Molly Hankinson has been working with Partick Annexe to create a mural for Purdon Street’s Community Garden.
Partick Mural Consultations
Working with visual artist and performer Bruno Gallagher, we carried out on street consultations to determine what kind of artworks the public want to see replace the three murals which are currently situated on the gable ends in Merkland Court, Partick.
Artists Workshops with Galgael
Yardworks artists helped to launch the Dandelion Unexpected Garden at Ibrox Terrace with Galgael. Ursula Kam-Ling Chen and Tragic O’Hara painted murals, drew portraits and chatted to the community about what themes they would like to see in local public art.Tragic O’Hara traded portrait drawings for stories from the community to be represented in his mural due to be installed at the Park Bar in Cessnock. Visual artist, Greer Pester, engaged with the community creating sawdust carpets which saw participants create temporary installations and images.
Protests and Suffragettes @ Govan Fair
Protests and Suffragettes set up shop against the backdrop of Fairfeilds to speak to the people of Govan about local female activists and find out who the favourite was to be featured in a new mural that will be installed in June on Crossloan Road across from Mary Barbours old close.
Artist Workshop with KMG
KMG has been working with a group of refugees housed by Mears in accommodation in Glasgow. KMG designed a series of workshops which encouraged the families and individuals to explore their personal experience of both Glasgow and their home, channeling positive stories and creating artworks which contributed to the design of a billboard on the expressway by SWG3.
